Norway nominates Deca-BDE as a Persistent Organic Pollutant

Norway has announced that it has submitted a proposal to consider the listing of Deca-BDE1 under the Stockholm Convention as a Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP)2.

The Secretariat will now verify whether the proposal contains all the information required by the Convention to be considered as a POP. If the dossier meets the screening criteria the Secretariat will forward the proposal to the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC)3 for evaluation. The next POPRC meeting4 will take place on 14-18 October 2013 in Rome.

If the dossier is forwarded to the POPRC for review, this will be announced by the Secretariat on 14 July. The agenda for the POPRC meeting will also be made available on this date.
